ABOUT OTS-NYU

Ottoman and Turkish Studies at NYU (OTS-NYU) was established in 2006 under the guidance of Prof. Leslie Peirce. Since 2018, under the leadership of Prof. Ayşe Baltacıoğlu-Brammer, the initiative has acquired a new face as a hub of Ottoman, Post-Ottoman, Turkish, and Turkic Studies with an integrative and interdisciplinary approach. Through lectures, panels, workshops, and roundtables, OTS-NYU serves both the NYU community and the public in general. Carefully curated programs with established and rising scholars expand our understanding of what constitutes “Ottoman” and “Turkish.”

Unless noted otherwise, all events are held at the Hagop Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies 255 Sullivan St (at Washington Square South).
